Dear friends,
It has been a busy week as we approach the end of our program year at A2U2. This week also brings UUA General Assembly, the annual business meeting of our denomination, which I have attended as a delegate representing our congregation. The UU Minister’s Association annual gathering–Ministry Days–was online this week, too, and the sessions and meetings I’ve been able to make have been meaningful and engaging. Though not every aspect of congregational and denominational governance is thrilling, I remain grateful for the opportunity to participate in the democratic processes of our faith. I am reminded of the power of practicing this covenantal tradition in a community of diverse and wonderful people.
There are many opportunities to engage in the life of our local covenantal community, our congregation, this weekend. I hope to see you!
On Saturday morning we’ll gather at First Parish UU downtown for a pride worship gathering from 10:30-11am (co-led by my multi-faith colleagues and me). From 11-11:30 we’ll walk from First Parish to line up at our parade spot (with our new A2U2 sign!), and then the parade kicks off at 11:30 and we will march together with MUUSAN and other affirming southern Maine faith communities by our side.
On Sunday we celebrate our final service of the ‘25-’26 program year – an all-ages worship service including the Unitarian Universalist Flower Communion. Please bring a flower (or a whole bunch) to share! On Sunday afternoon at 2pm we’ll gather back in the Sanctuary to celebrate the life of longtime church member Clay Atkinson. If you can’t be there but would like to join via Zoom, please fill out this form by Friday at noon to get the link.
As always, there is lots going on. Good, hard, holy… let us give thanks for this community and the larger living tradition that holds us in love and calls us to the work we do together. Until we’re together, take good care.
In faith,
Rev. Tara
