A welcoming congregation
We’re Unitarian Universalists in Portland, Maine: queer‑affirming, justice‑minded, and glad to have you, whatever you believe. We gather Sundays at ten, in the sanctuary and on Zoom.

“Love Blooms”
What’s coming up →
What holds us together isn’t a creed; it’s a set of shared values, with love at the center. Bring your own beliefs through the door, humanist or theist, doubter or seeker; we care more about how we live together than about what you say you believe.
What a Sunday is like
Where to park, what to wear, what the kids get up to, and what actually happens in the hour you’re there.
Worship from anywhere
Every service is live on Zoom at ten, and goes up on our YouTube channel later in the week.
The work we do
Sharing the plate, showing up at the State House, and a long Maine habit of putting faith into action.
A word from our minister
Love can be a feeling. But it can also be the actions we take, the seeds we plant, the policies we advocate for, or the words we choose.
Rev. Tara Humphries
Read this week’s letter from TaraThe noises and wiggles of the youngest members are the sign of a healthy church. I’ve been able to relax and let my kids be kids.
I had trouble getting up each Sunday and reciting things I no longer believed in. Then I discovered Unitarian Universalism, where we say we believe in Love, Truth, Helping Others, and the Sanctity of Life. That I can agree with.
A community that accepts me for who I am and what I believe, with people whose different beliefs I can learn from. There’s no pressure to believe a specific creed.
