Happy Pride Month!

Happy June, A2U2 community!

And a very happy Pride Month to us all. And summer is just around the corner. There is much to celebrate. May this find you well amidst the unfolding of this season of long days with sun that stretches into the evening.

I’m thrilled to return to our A2U2 pulpit on Sunday after a few weeks in other places, and I’ll be in the pulpit through the end of June. This Sunday is our annual LGBTQIA+ Pride service which I’ve collaborated on with members of our A2U2 queer community. We’ll welcome another group of new members into the life of our congregation as part of the service, and gather after (11:15am approx.) for our Annual Meeting! Please join us!

This year’s pride service is entitled “On the Shoulders of Giants” and is a reference to the expression (it’s up for debate who said it first…) “we stand on the shoulders of giants,” meaning that we are able to accomplish what we do because of the people who have come before us. We’ll reflect together on our queer ancestors, the great cloud of witnesses, who have paved the way for us to be who we are today as well as our role, regardless of our identities, in paving the way for the generations to come.

I look forward to being together in celebration of pride, of our new members, and of the sacred work we have accomplished as a congregation this year!

Until then, may peace find you.

In faith,

Rev. Tara
